RELINQUISHING OF COMMAND BY VICE ADMIRAL AJIT KUMAR P AVSM, VSM, COMMANDANT INA

Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P AVSM, VSM relinquished his command on 05 Feb 16 in a grand function at INA. A 50 men Guard of Honour along with band was paraded at the Northern Plaza. Commandant was ceremoniously pulled out in ceremonial gypsy from Northern Plaza to Prerna Sthal. During pulling out ceremony Man n Cheer ship by the ships company of INA, INS Zamorin and INHS Navjivani was undertaken.  

INTER SQUADRON CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

The Inter - Squadron Cross-Country championship for Spring Term 2016 was conducted at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, on the 31st January 2016. The prestigious event, which tests the limits of physical endurance, determination and will power of cadets, was flagged off by Rear Admiral MD Suresh, NM, Deputy Commandant, INA at 0600 AM. A total of 847 cadets from the six squadrons of the Academy participated in the event, in which the trainees ran a course of twelve kilometers across the varied terrain of Ezhimala, including a beach stretch of about two kilometres.

INA OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

INA Open Tennis Championship was conducted from 26 – 29 Jan 16. A total of 16 cadets participated in the Championship. Finals of Tennis Championship was played on 29 Jan 16 between SLC Rohit Sharma and Cdt Anurag Iyer both from Achiever Squadron. SLC Rohit Sharma bagged Gold and Cdt Anurag Iyer stood second with Silver. Bronze medal was won by Cdt Nishant Ponnappa of Cheetah Squadron.

INA OPEN BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP – WOMEN

INA Open Badminton Championship for women trainees was conducted from 21 – 25 Jan 16. A total of 22 women cadets participated in the Championship. Finals of badminton Championship was played on 25 Jan 16 between Cdt Shivani Pansal of Dare devil Squadron and Cdt Anuradha Chand of Achiever Squadron. Cdt Shivani Pansal bagged Gold and Cdt Anuradha Chand stood second with Silver. Bronze medal was won by Cdt Sneha of Achiever Squadron.
 

REPUBLIC DAY PARADE AT INA

A ceremonial parade was held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) today to commemorate India’s 67th Republic Day. The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, the Commandant. The Academy cadet appointments, Commanding Officers of Hospital Ship Navjivani, INS Zamorin, the Principal, Deputy Commandant and the Commandant placed wreath at the War Memorial, Prerna Sthal to pay homage to naval martyrs.  

INA OPEN SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIP

INA Open Squash Championship was conducted from 18 - 20 Jan 16. A total of 26 cadets participated in the championship. Finals was played on 20 Jan 16 between DCC Soham Kekre of Eagle Squadron and Cdt Anmol Rawat of Braveheart Squadron. DCC Soham Kekre bagged Gold and Cdt Anmol Rawat stood second with Silver medal and Cdt Harsha Arza of Achiever Squadron at third position with bronze medal.
 

INTER SQUADRON ATHLETICS

Inter Squadron Athletics was conducted from 08 - 15 Jan 16. Following events were conducted:- 
Men`s Events
      (a) 100 m, 200 m, 300 m and 400 m run.
      (b) 4X100 m , 4X400 m Relay.
      (c) Pole Vault, High Jump, Long jump and Javelin.
Women`s Events
      (a)  100m and 200m run
      (b)   Long Jump
Closing ceremony of the Inter Squadron Athletics Championship was conducted on 15 Jan 16. Cheetah Squadron stood first in the competition.
 

COMMANDANT ADDRESSES THE CADETS

Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P AVSM VSM, the Commandant addresses the cadets of II – VIII term at the start of the new term ST 16. He motivated the cadets to do well in all stream and has also set various goals to be achieved by the academy during the on-going term. 

He emphasised that the cadet should put his best foot forward and remain focussed to the requirements of training. The overall aim is military grooming and the curriculum is intended to be tough and gruelling, mentally and physically. The curriculum teaches time management.

USA WINS ADMIRAL'S CUP 2015

The sixth edition of ‘Admirals Cup’ Sailing Regatta concluded on 12 December at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala with the USA team winning the Admiral's Cup with their consistent performance. China won the Runners-Up Cup and India (INA) came third. Cadet Ebrahim Showaiter of Saudi Arabia stood first in the individual position of open category (both men and women including) followed by Midshipman Gary Preto of USA and Midshipman Ahmed Abdulla Salman Dawood Sadeq of Behrain at second and third position respectively.
